Hawaiian Volcano Update: Kīlauea Eruption's First 24 Hours, September 11, 2023

We recap the first 24 hours of Kīlauea's third summit eruption of 2023 using webcams, imagery, and reports courtesy of the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory as well as the Hawaiʻi Tracker online community. Our custom time-lapses illustrate the volcanic processes in this first phase of the eruption, while we discuss viewer questions and annotate the presentation on screen as we go.
