Pohoiki Webcam

Courtesy of the Hale ‘Ohana & operated by HVERI. The camera faces Pohoiki Bay to the south, to document the dredging of the boat ramp blocked by sediment generated largely during the 2018 Kīlauea eruption. The intent is to restore ocean access for the long tradition of fishermen in this culturally & economically significant area, while also facilitating ocean rescues along the 80 miles of coastline between Hilo and Punalu’u. The camera updates every 5 minutes, though connection issues from the remote location occasionally result in low-quality or missing images.
